Voxblock the screen-free audiobook player for children, already beloved by children and parents, has today launched Voxblock Schools. Voxblock Schools is the first ever schools and educational settings audiobook product, designed specifically for use in primary and nursery classrooms. Voxblock Schools was created in response to requests for a multi-user classroom product from schools and teachers who were impressed with the connectivity-free audiobook player, and knew it would translate perfectly to the schools environment.

Voxblock is the easy-to-use, screen-free audiobook player designed (by parents) for children aged 3-12 years. The player has no internet connection, meaning no need for wifi, apps, downloads, logins or passwords. Named winner of the Best Kids Audio Player for Ease of Use by The Independent in 2022, children can independently operate the players without the need for adults.

Voxblock Schools offers a range of school packages that can be used by individual pupils, small groups or whole classes. Schools can add Voxblock to their classrooms, libraries or as part of a SEN or learning enhancement programme.

Voxblock co-founder Rebecca Lundgren says; “Research shows that there are huge rewards to be found in audiobooks and that they can help unlock a love of reading in children. Following numerous approaches from teachers and schools for a school's specific Voxblock package we’ve launched Voxblock Schools. We hope will help make classrooms and school libraries an even more accessible space for all children, where literacy skills are built and stories can be enjoyed by every student - no matter their reading cababilities.”

Voxblock Schools is available from only £275 excluding VAT and comes in a variety of different sized packages. All include Voxblock screen-free audiobook players, a range of audiobooks, supporting resources, charging hub(s) and aux cable(s) to allow connection to a speaker for whole class listening, as well as a discount for buying additional books and players. Ranging from the mini package which includes 5 players and 10 audiobooks for £275 plus VAT, to the largest including 20 audiobook players and 40 audiobooks for £1,000 plus VAT.

Voxblocks are uniquely suited to the school and nursery environment - their protective bumper, and the robust nature of their design, means they can stand up to a high level of use. Being completely connectivity-free, with a long battery life they are ready to go whenever needed.

With over 150 stories suitable for children of nursery and primary school age, there is something for most classrooms. Ranging from short stories such as Old Bear by Shirley Hughes, ideal for group listening when having a snack, to longer chapter books such as Who Let The Gods Out by Maz Evans which could be enjoyed by a smaller group following along with a physical copy of the book.

Furthermore schools and parents can work together to grow a school’s library through the “Support Your School” Voxblock program which sees participating schools receiving a unique discount code entitling parents to £10 off Voxblock Starter Packs. Each time the code is used the school benefits from a free audiobook.

Prior to the September launch, the new Voxblock Schools package has been trialled in schools and by teachers with the following feedback;

Leah, primary 3-4 class teacher; “The use of Voxblock helps cover many of the literacy outcomes, focusing on listening, talking and reading. It has helped students engage in new stories and gain exposure to more worlds, ultimately improving vocabulary and comprehension. One of my students (aged 6 years) said independently “It gave me good words in the stories and I used them in my writing.””

Rachel, lower primary teacher; “I have two Voxblock's for my own daughters and I have been very impressed with how easy to use they are. We live rurally and not needing wifi has been a big plus. My girls have been exposed to a wide range of literature and engaged in different genres that they wouldn’t have without Voxblock.

With my teaching background I was immediately excited by the opportunity for using Voxblock's within the school environment and how beneficial it would be to build vocabulary skills for both engaged and reluctant readers.

For our class, using Voxblock will allow me to focus time on small groups while students are learning vocabulary in a safe (no internet, no apps, no YouTube) and engaging way. I’m really looking forward to seeing Voxblock go from strength to strength in the classroom."
