Homework Support for Parents

Parents are spending an average of 6 hours a week assisting their children with homework. Here are some helpful do's and don'ts for parents to effectively support your children during this time.

Do’s

  • Organise Homework Sessions: Ensure your child has had a nutritious meal and a short break after school to recharge.

  • Follow Time Guidelines: Keep homework assignments within the recommended duration for their age as outlined in the school handbook.

  • Create a Positive Environment: Set up a comfortable, distraction-free space without TVs or gaming consoles to foster focus and creativity.

  • Encourage and Praise: Celebrate your child’s efforts and progress, recognizing that every child learns at their own pace.

Don’ts

  • Don’t Complete Homework for Them: While it may seem helpful, doing your child’s homework creates dependency and hinders their ability to learn and grow.

  • Don’t Punish Mistakes: Mistakes are part of the learning
