The Edinburgh Science Festival, the world's first science festival launched in 1989, is now the UK’s largest.
Held over two weeks each year during the Easter break, it offers incredible experiences for all ages, featuring exhibitions, events, workshops, performances, screenings, and discussions with leading scientific minds.
With over 150 inspiring events between Saturday 5th and Sunday 20th April for you to enjoy, many of them entirely free.
The next festival will explore the challenges of living on a planet with finite resources through the lenses of science fiction and space exploration, with the theme "Spaceship Earth."
The festival takes over various venues in the city, providing fun and engaging activities alongside serious debates on topics ranging from quantum physics to environmental ethics. Interactive exhibitions and workshops captivate both children and adults, allowing them to explore subjects such as spaceships, weather, and dinosaurs. Adults can enjoy entertaining evening events, including discussions, debates, performances, and hands-on experiences, with plenty of audience participation.
Discover what’s on at the National Museum of Scotland, Dynamic Earth, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, Edinburgh Zoo, The Bayes Centre, The University of Edinburgh, and more venues across Edinburgh.
