About Laura
As the daughter of a publisher/bookseller, I spent much of my childhood foraging in bookshops and in my own house. Even the barn was bursting with (cobwebby) books. In my 20s I worked as a teacher in schools across London, and even (briefly!) a children’s bookshop – a dream job! And no, in case you're wondering, I wasn't sacked for reading the books. (But probably should have been!)
These recommendations have been compiled over 10+ years of compulsive exploring in schools, bookshops, libraries and other people’s homes. As a tutor (more recently) I kept a beady eye out for titles that would appeal to reluctant readers and children with dyslexia. You’ll find them in this list.
